Fat on a face can come from different sources, the most common being eating too much sugar and foods that are high in saturated fat.

Fat isn’t just a matter of skin colour
In recent years a number of research studies have been done on the role of fat in skin cancer.
In this study, the authors looked at how many cancer cells in the skin of people with both dark and light skin types.
As a group, they found that the cells from people with darker skin had a high risk of developing cancer compared to people with light skin, as well as those with a similar body mass index to those with darker skin.
However, they also found that there was an association within each skin type that was not seen, suggesting there could be other factors involved in the link.
What type of fat does my face appear to have?
One of the easiest ways to gauge how much fat is under your face is to look at the fat of your cheeks, where most skin can be considered more normal.
A study looking at this, published in the prestigious British Journal of Dermatology, found that people with thicker skin had more fat in the cheeks than other people.
This was probably due to a higher consumption of alcohol and processed foods.
The researchers suggest that people who are overweight may be able to take advantage of this and get a boost from the calories they consume, but there is no evidence to suggest this is the case for the healthy looking people.
And people with dark skin may also find it easier to lose the fat with dieting efforts, with research showing that eating fewer fats and fewer processed foods may help with weight loss in the long-term.
