If you haven’t done something like this recently, here’s a quick (though it’s long) read to get you going.
Most of the time, we’d find the time to spend on a big project and then a few years later come back to it – but if you’re like me, you’d do it again and again. There are so many ways you can use your time and you can easily do this all in an afternoon as opposed to a full day job or something a little less structured.
The process we can work from is:
Decide which piece or series you want to work on. (this is important, as it can affect what you choose to do next)
Decide the steps you’ll be taking
Make a list of what you’ll be asking for
Choose an outline
Pick your “work day”
Write out your outline
Ask lots of questions. I have found asking the right questions is a much more effective way of moving on to the next item rather than asking the wrong question.
Now, your first item could be anything, it could be reading a book or watching a documentary but a good starting point would be that we’ll use a small notebook, pen, and a piece of paper with different sized lines for each piece or series we’ll be working on as a starting place.
The first step is getting your list of items down. It should only be a couple of hundred to two hundred items but if you have more, feel free to double it. This will create a sense of accomplishment and will help you make good choices when you do take on more.
Once your list of items is down, you’ll want to make your outline. There are a few different ways to do this (including my favorite) but I think I prefer using an online form.
