How did you learn a ukulele?
Ukulele is one of the most popular instruments, and I am lucky enough to live near many good ukulele teachers. I grew up listening to musicians all my life: piano, violin, bass etc. and ukulele has always been right at the top. I have been playing music since I was 8 years old and I love it. My favorite song with ukulele is “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Eric Clapton. When I was 12, I started studying classical music so I was already an advanced student. I have had 2 teachers, one who taught classical and the other that taught ukulele. My goal is to learn both ukulele and classical so I always try to play for both types of music, but I am a beginner too. There are lessons about it in my classes, but I don’t plan on going to any of them.
I think it’s important to learn them if you plan on learning the instrument. My teacher told me not to rush because if you don’t get it right the first time, you’ll never be able to play like a professional. When you have this confidence, you can feel more comfortable. That’s why I studied classical so much.
My favorite instrument is the ukulele, not the piano. It is easy and a great way to learn a technique, and it is also a way to create a new way of practicing. I don’t know if you have any of those in your collection, or maybe I am biased. You are right though. I don’t have any piano playing skills, and it feels so nostalgic to play a piano, especially with that instrument. I also love the sound of guitar or bass, and I am always thinking about learning a new instrument.
