Why have the boiler removed if I was told it was going to be removed?
You will receive a notice after your boiler was removed that includes:
a brief explanation of what will happen to your boiler
a list of other people who have requests for their boiler
a list of people who are entitled to the service
a list of people who are entitled to other services

How can I get an update on if my boiler is being removed?
If a boiler has been removed, you will receive a notice stating the reason why the boiler was removed. You can request an update about your boiler by filling out a Freedom of Information request.
As part of your application, you may need to provide additional documents that show why you think the boiler should be reinstated.
What happens to my old boiler?
Your boiler is considered abandoned to the Government of British Columbia (the ‘department’).
You can apply for a boiler on and off benefits. If the department agrees you are eligible for benefits, you can receive your original boiler back. Any other paperwork associated with your case will require to be sent to you.
You can apply for a new boiler on benefits.
The department will send your old boiler back when they complete their review. The department will notify you of the time frame of the review by e-mail or social media. You can also make an appointment with the department to visit.

apply to your local Benefits Directorate branch to have your boiler reinstated
apply to the local branch of the department to have your boiler reinstated, if possible.
What happens after a boiler is reinstated?
Your boiler is subject to the same regulations as it has always been after a boiler was removed. The only restrictions are the department’s inspection criteria.
