What are the different types of ukulele playing?
Ukeleles vary in price, from $10.00 all the way up to nearly $6000 which is almost the price of an expensive Yamaha Ukelele. As you probably already know, all ukuleles play the same notes and have similar playing modes. The main difference in playing ukulele is the types of notes players play and whether they hit a sharp, flat or a drop note. Players can choose from 7 octaves and 4 different types of music notes (dorian, alto, tenor, mezzo, bass) as opposed to the 8 major, minor, perfect fifth, octave, natural, or augmented octave of an ukulele. Players often consider these notes to just be notes, because there is no harmony involved to create them. For people who have only learned ukulele and are just beginning their education in music, I suggest reading an educational online ukelele lesson course in ukulele that will explain some of the finer points of the different types of music ukuleles sound best at and teach you music and ukulele theory. You could also go on to practice with a ukulele of your choice and make up your own unique set of scales & fingering/hand coordination techniques.
