Try turning off your amp and your amp’s speaker switch and adjusting your amp’s preamp volume or reverb. You should then see your bass-to-treble frequency ratio improving. You may also need to adjust your subwoofer volume and boost it in your amp’s EQ window.

I also tried removing my speakers from the amp, and then replacing them but it didn’t help. Does this fix my buzzing and does one need an amp with more than two speakers?

If your ukulele has a single speaker (other than the amp or speakers), then yes, it can fix the problem. There is always a chance that one of the additional speakers may have buzzing. There are quite a few different types of speakers you can use, so if you try an amp without speakers, you may run the risk of damage to other speakers while the new one is mounted on it.

Should I do any maintenance on my ukulele?

Just like any expensive item, having it cared for properly will make it sound better than it would otherwise. However, it should be a routine part of your normal routine.

Will it work on my ‘normal’ instruments?

We haven’t actually tested this for ourselves, but you should assume that a similar system that you’d find in any studio (or any standard house) should work just fine.

My ukulele won’t play straight off the turntable.

One of the most common issues people run into is that the tone arm moves or has broken on the platter (or sometimes even is damaged). If you have a sound controller connected to your turntable and you’re having this issue, you don’t have much choice. The sound controller sends the signal to the turntable via the jack you’ve plugged in or through a speaker or whatever you’ve plugged in to your amp. So it’s not actually wired to the turntable at all. Instead, the signal goes right through your amp into your sound controller and then down the speaker line to your ukulele. The problem can only occur (hopefully) when the tone arm is actually moving.

So if you’re unable to get a straight tone, this is typically due to the broken tone arm failing or the tone arm coming out of alignment. These things can be fixed by removing the old arm, replacing it with a new one with a better type or a factory-adjusted sound control unit.
