With the number of mixtapes produced by each of these artists, you can see that the majority of them are of equal rank. If you’re confused by these numbers, well you’re not alone.
There is a growing trend to see rappers drop out of their charts when it’s all said and done of course. However, it would appear that these artists are only starting to hit a plateau now with the next generation of rap music on the horizon (see: Drake, Jay Z, Wale, Kendrick Lamar, Logic, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Maco). These artists do still have the potential of producing top 10 mixtapes, however, the numbers themselves don’t suggest they have.

Some people may disagree and think there is no way Eminem can be the number 6 on this list. Maybe you disagree because some of the top 10 producers are also on the same list.
For example, Lil Wayne and Lil Wayne’s joint mixtape, The Eminem Show has three songs on the list. Lil Wayne and Eminem also both contributed on the Eminem mixtape, The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
If we were asked to rank the top 10 best producers in Rap, we wouldn’t agree with that. It isn’t about the number of records a producer puts out, or even the number of mixtapes they produced in a year. It’s about the number of features and collaborations.
So as we continue to get better at this game that we love, hopefully we’ll have more and more people getting excited about creating music to share in the years ahead.
