In order to teach how to rap on the fly, you need to show us the flow. Here are the three principles that make up the basic flow of a rap. You’ll also learn how to apply these lessons in a series of short video lessons to give you the confidence to rap on stage to start your own rap group.
You have to work out your lines with the microphone. The first thing you need to do is learn to hit the snare drum with your head, and when you do, it’s time to play with the timing on the kick, the hi, and the snare. It’s time to move your head around to the beat. Your head should always be in the right place, and move around to match. The more rhythm you can maintain between beats, the better your music will sound, just as the more rhythm you can maintain on a piano, the better your music will sound, just as this is the same way for rap.
This takes time to develop, so if you’re not a beginner rapper, you should practice it once a week. It’s really the easiest form to learn, though you should definitely practice the longer form when you’re learning the rest. The long form is actually a bit different!
Start with the longest, easiest form, and gradually build it through the form until you’re capable of doing all the long forms with one hand. The more you can do with one hand, the better.
You can learn every rap form in a day (although doing all of them takes forever), but the longer you work on this, the better you’ll get. To learn a rap form, you have to go through the form by ear a few times, just like on a piano. It just takes some practice.
As you develop your flow, practice each of the lines and beat and the different things that go along with it. Each time, you’ll be amazed how much more you can do – you won’t be looking for help, you’ll just be able to go along and see things more clearly and accurately. In time, you’ll be able to rap with the most simple forms without having to worry about getting it right, but the faster you learn it, the sharper you can sharpen your rap.
