I don’t know about you, but if I had to give you a rough estimate, it’s about 70%, tops. My personal favorite is a “mock sweater” – the material can last years, and you could even make a hoodie out of it as well – as long as you can make it. Most people don’t bother to do this, but I’d say it’s definitely up there. There are two main reasons I buy some: It’s fun, and it’s cheap. As we all know, if a project costs more than it’s worth, it’s definitely not worth the time or money. (Note: A similar sentiment to mine – you can actually spend money you don’t have and still get a lot of bang for your buck.)

What made you want to make a pattern?

At first, I made my own pattern for every project on my to-do list. As I grew older, I realized the patterns weren’t as good – especially as I got into the adult world and started building my collection. And so I started buying the patterns online, or from other people online who did the same thing. For awhile, I’d just sit down and type a few words at the bottom of the picture page; I’d have something like the below image to work with. But as I started to expand, I got so involved in sewing, and it was just too time-consuming to keep up.

I always have a small stash of patterns that I could pull out and start over, so I began to find patterns of my own design on the internet. It’s been a great way to keep up with my project list, get all the new tricks in from other sewing bloggers, and always have something extra to play with.

What would you say is the most important thing of all?
Have you heard? Isaiah's Woodwork gaining steam as cornhole board ...

I would say I’d say time to get started – you never know what you’ll find, but if you’re patient, you’ll probably have something that will give you so many hours of pleasure once you work on it. The thing that I think is most important is patience – be patient with yourself! You never know what you’ll find. If you look at any sewing pattern online, you’ll see a lot of people are doing the same work, but it’s never the same pattern. Even if the instructions in the pattern are identical, there is a whole world of variations, so you might make something that looks exactly like the picture, yet is incredibly different.
