Is selling handmade furniture profitable? – Woodworking Businesses In Colorado

Many of the handmade shops that I visited in the city were selling the same stock, even the same styles of materials. I was fascinated by how they were producing items that had been sitting at home and on the market for years without anyone noticing – and made the decision to leave my job. And my heart was full of pride that people would be willing to spend money to buy handmade stuff made with their hard work and love. So much work goes into a handmade product. It is far more laborious than producing a standard product in any factory, but what is a person to do when the whole world is already familiar with the item they love?

There’s been a lot of talk about the need for a national broadband plan — and President Obama has proposed one, while GOP presumptive nominee Mitt Romney has not. But what happens in two years if the FCC and Congress fail to come to an agreement?

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler is taking a more ambitious role under the Romney “fiscal year 2008” budget proposal, which envisions a “Fiber to the Home” plan — basically a big-government project to build fast, nationwide fiber-optic networks for the poor and a new kind of copper broadband infrastructure for the rich — as his top priority.

That could mean that much of the infrastructure planning for the new internet will be handled by private companies– and we should be wary of those plans being used for political gain by companies that might be affected by what gets built.

What happened in the 2000 election? How did the Republicans do their best to undermine the new Democratic government?

We have our story to tell. But first, let’s take a look at the timeline for where everything will be happening between now and when the 2008 elections are over in November 2008:

September 2007: Bush officially names Janet Napolitano to the secretary of the department of homeland security. The first federal infrastructure program is set to kick off in January 2008 under the heading of DHS/DHS – Internet Infrastructure.

July 2008: “A bipartisan coalition of Senators from all 50 states” introduces the Infrastructure in the American Innovation Initiative (IIIA), an $85 billion plan to fund infrastructure– from highways to high-speed rail – through competitive bidding.

September 2008: “The White House announces a plan to invest $200 billion over the next 10 years in high-speed broadband to every home and business in the United States,” says an NBC News story

December 2008: Obama’s plan is approved
