If the cards you have are numbered from 1 to 10 with the 1 card being the winner and every other card counting to 10, then they are all the same card, and you may count them as one single card. While it may look like you get several pairs from an individual card, this is a false sense of how much of each type of card (or type of hand) you keep. You keep the combination of two type of cards, the matching numbers. The number of cards you keep from two types of cards is determined by taking the sum of the card numbers of those types. So let’s say you keep four cards with two card types, one with the name of that card, and one with the blackjack numbers. You also keep 8 cards with the name of the matching card, and 4 cards with matching numbers, to make another total of 12 cards.
When you have a collection of cards with different name-type combinations, each of those kinds of cards has a particular number that is the sum of the numbers of each type of card. In other words, there are four different kinds of deck cards, one for each kind of name-type combination. You need each kind of card to have the same amount of blackjack, so you don’t need to keep card-types-of-blackjack when you have multiple matching cards of a certain kind.
