What accessories were popular in the 1920s? – Flapper Dresses 1920S Gatsby Costume

A: The biggest one was the watch that I had in high school, a “vintage” one, not the one with perpetual calendar, the one with small hands.

Q: Did you ever own a watch that was so “bad news” that you couldn’t take it to dinner with you?

A: For the most part, no. But I did have a watch for Christmas, by the way, from my very first year in high school in the 1940s, at the time I was a student there. [I’m thinking this is probably the one of the “very earliest” examples I have that was worn by a student. A very early-period watch with a screw-up crown.] But I had that as a companion piece. It was a military watch that had a small watchmaker’s mark on the back, and that was an important mark. When I got into law school in the late ’60s, I had one of the first ones, [an English-made watch with] a military date that said so-and-so. [It had a watchmaker’s mark, but there was no actual maker’s mark on the back of the watch. This is an entry-level model with an English, not a Swiss, maker’s mark on the back.

Q: Did you ever wear a vintage watch made in China?

A: No. This is from the early ’80s, the one of the vintage pieces that has the “Chinese” name on the back.

Q: What accessories were popular in the 1920s?

A: I liked the black-gold watch—which was very popular when I was a kid. I like the kind of watch with red, and I also like gold. The gold-plated and gold-plated, red and black-gold watch I think I’m the only one that has an attractive red-plated case and has gold plating on the dial, just like the one that I wore in New York City. I wore it in the summer, as well as in the winter. The timepiece was made by RCA (Regal, the company that owned RCA), which I loved.

Q: What did you buy at an average watch store?

A: A set of five watch bands, and two clocks. I think I also got a gold watch band for my father, and an evening watch, that had a black leather strap.
