I recently bought my first laptop, a brand new 13″ Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga. Like most people, I’m pretty impressed when it comes to quality, performance, and features, but am concerned about the price. When it comes to computing this is the only machine I want my kids to have; with the exception of a few games, the system is too expensive. As I read this I saw this as someone’s dilemma, so I decided to write a review based on this concern, since that’s what I’ve found so far.
The system begins as a stock ThinkPad Yoga, with some customization options. If the system works out, you can upgrade it to a newer system. It has a 500 GB hard drive, and it can also be upgraded to 512 GB, 8GB, or 16GB. My ThinkPad Yoga has 8 GB, and the system is compatible with both 128 GB and 256 GB of storage. You can add more devices with your ThinkPad Yoga, but only USB flash drives can be added, such as external hard drives, CD/DVD drives, and USB flash drives.
The ThinkPad Yoga has the same CPU and graphics that the base generation model had. The processor is a 2.4 GHz Intel Atom Z2560 with 2GB of RAM. In my usage I have seen no performance degradation compared to the Intel Core 2 Duo. Both the CPU and GPU were the same performance as this model with the exception of the graphics, which is a Radeon HD 4870. I’ve also seen comparable performance in benchmarks. When it comes to the CPU performance, you get the same basic speeds or even better when it comes to the graphics, depending on the game you are playing; the CPU is faster than the GPU to the extent that when my game was running I never experienced any lag or choppiness.
