The Washington Redskins will host their annual Pro Bowl game on April 25 at FedEx Field, and there’s good reason to be excited about it.
That is, considering the upcoming game brings the first-ever Pro Bowl All-Stars from within the division.
According to CBSSports.com, the Super Bowl XLIX matchup will feature eight first-timers who are currently under contract with the NFL.
Redskins head coach Jay Gruden has previously revealed that he prefers to play his first-round draft picks at the top of the first round.
If that doesn’t appeal to Gruden, don’t worry. Washington has a great option to keep the Pro Bowl in town for the 2017 season.
The only remaining problem is convincing teams to hold the annual event in their hometowns. The league doesn’t set a deadline for when a team needs to play a one-off game, so there’s no rulebook.
Last year the league held its annual game in London, so there’s nothing to stop the Redskins from holding their first Pro Bowl in the nation’s capital.
At least, the game will still include Washington’s regular-season games.
The NFL has hinted that the game could be in Seattle or Los Angeles in 2018 for the first time since 2005.
“We wanted to celebrate the city of Chicago as much as possible and our local food industry,” said Chris Leinen, a general manager at the restaurant in Oak Brook, Illinois, that will be part of the event. “When we first started talking about it, we got the feeling that a lot of people were passionate about Chicago and wanted to attend.”
A city of 500,000, Chicago has grown from a small town in the 18th Century to become a bustling metropolis that is home to restaurants, museums and an art scene that continues to grow year over year. It was the country’s first big city and the birthplace of jazz.
The city is a haven for the arts, and for chefs.
Last summer, chef David Burke began running the annual Chicago Food Film Festival from the Chicago Center for the Performing Arts. That was followed by a festival of local cookbooks, a food tasting in October and, at the time of publication, a cooking class in November.
Burke said the festival and classes have increased the appetite for local food to a more mainstream level by attracting more visitors and giving Chicago a spotlight and credibility that has not been seen since the 1960
